SENIOR CHEF FT

We are looking for an experienced chef to work alongside our Head Chef, to develop the section and manage in their absence. Previous professional experience is essential, we hope to find a chef who has 2+ years’ experience in a similar café/restaurant kitchen.

Our kitchen serves both our ground floor bakery café and first floor dining space, up to 60 covers, as well as producing jarred and fresh products for sale on the shop counter.  It’s a busy space. Our chutneys, jams and condiments are made from scratch by our chefs. We take raw ingredients and turn them into delicious meals. We are looking for someone with a desire to continue learning every day, the ability to share their knowledge, ideas and creativity and to motivate themselves and others to improve.

This is a predominantly daytime role, with occasional evening events and seasonal evening menus.

You will be:

  • an efficient and a clean worker
  • able to slot into a busy team and learn while you work
  • mindful of ingredient costs and wastage
  • inspired by other parts of the food world and able to bring your inspiration and ideas to work
  • able to respond positively and calmly to a fast paced, busy service

Duties include:

  • setting up kitchen before service
  • preparing and cooking our café menu
  • stock ordering daily
  • daily and deep cleaning
  • contribute to the development of new products and processes within the section
  • managing the section in the absence of the Head Chef
  • assisting in the training of new staff and passing on knowledge to our Front of House team so they can speak knowledgably to our customers

Regular shifts start between 8-9am each day, we are open 7 days a week so working days can include part and full weekends.

42 hours per week. Salary is dependent on age and experience. Option of a 4 day week (34 hours) and hourly rate.
