JUNIOR FRONT OF HOUSE FT

A great opportunity to join our Front of House (FOH) crew. This junior position would suit someone who has some previous retail and hospitality experience in a similar café, or a foodie who enjoys being surrounded by delicious treats and is ready to join a high-paced work environment.

Our Front of House team is the face of the bakery and café, the first point of contact for customers and the team that presents all the hard work of our bakers, pastry chefs and chefs each day. This team needs to deliver a friendly, informal and efficient service and always offer a happy solution to any query. We are looking for someone with a desire to continue learning every day, the ability to share their knowledge, ideas and creativity and to be self-motivated to improve.

FOH staff work between our bakery counter, bakery café and first floor dining space, so a flexible approach is essential. We like to give staff variation in their work which means assisting our pastry section with brownie and cookie baking each week, as well as service duties. We also look to develop barista skills in all our FOH team members.

You will be:

Duties include:

  • set up shop and café before opening each morning
  • taking and packing orders for collection (by phone)
  • talking knowledgably about our product range and menu, giving personal recommendations and accurate allergen advice
  • handling cash and using POS systems accurately
  • baking brownies and cookies each week
  • packing cookies, crackers and granola, labelling packaged goods for our retail shelves
  • setting and clearing tables, serving our food and drinks menu
  • notifying senior colleagues when stock ordering is necessary
  • daily and deep cleaning

Regular shifts start between 8-10am each day, we are open 7 days a week so working days can include part and full weekends. We run monthly evening events and occasional private hire dinner parties which may require evening shifts.

35 hours per week. Hourly rate is dependent on age and experience.

SENIOR CHEF FT

We are looking for an experienced chef to work alongside our Head Chef, to develop the section and manage in their absence. Previous professional experience is essential, we hope to find a chef who has 2+ years’ experience in a similar café/restaurant kitchen.

Our kitchen serves both our ground floor bakery café and first floor dining space, up to 60 covers, as well as producing jarred and fresh products for sale on the shop counter.  It’s a busy space. Our chutneys, jams and condiments are made from scratch by our chefs. We take raw ingredients and turn them into delicious meals. We are looking for someone with a desire to continue learning every day, the ability to share their knowledge, ideas and creativity and to motivate themselves and others to improve.

This is a predominantly daytime role, with occasional evening events and seasonal evening menus.

You will be:

  • an efficient and a clean worker
  • able to slot into a busy team and learn while you work
  • mindful of ingredient costs and wastage
  • inspired by other parts of the food world and able to bring your inspiration and ideas to work
  • able to respond positively and calmly to a fast paced, busy service

Duties include:

  • setting up kitchen before service
  • preparing and cooking our café menu
  • stock ordering daily
  • daily and deep cleaning
  • contribute to the development of new products and processes within the section
  • managing the section in the absence of the Head Chef
  • assisting in the training of new staff and passing on knowledge to our Front of House team so they can speak knowledgably to our customers

Regular shifts start between 8-9am each day, we are open 7 days a week so working days can include part and full weekends.

42 hours per week. Salary is dependent on age and experience. Option of a 4 day week (34 hours) and hourly rate.

JUNIOR BAKER (PART TIME)

A great opportunity to join our bread crew, this junior position would suit someone who has studied baking in college or worked in a bakery for a year or two.

We pride ourselves in the care, knowledge and attention to detail we employ in producing our bakery range. We are looking for someone with an equal passion for fermentation, a desire to continue learning every day, the ability to share their knowledge, ideas and creativity and to be self-motivated to improve.

You will be:

  • in love with all things sourdough
  • detail orientated and a little bit obsessed about refining your techniques, consistency and learning new things
  • an efficient and a clean worker
  • a morning person!
  • able to slot into a team and also motivate yourself for more solo work
  • mindful of ingredient costs and wastage
  • inspired by other parts of the food world and able to bring your inspiration and ideas to work

Duties include:

  • mixing savoury and sweet doughs, sourdough and yeasted
  • hand scaling and shaping all our doughs
  • bake shifts and oven work
  • veg and fruit prep for bread products
  • daily and deep cleaning

This role is a physical one, with lots of lifting and carrying. You will be on your feet for your 8.5 hour shift (with a break for lunch of course)

Regular shifts start between 4-7am each day, we are open 7 days a week so working days can include part and full weekends.

24+ hours per week. Salary/hourly rate is dependent on age and experience.
