A love of Sheffield, an ambition to run a food business, and a love affair with bread.
Martha attended the School of Artisan Food, Nottinghamshire, leaving in 2012. The same year, Forge Bakehouse opened its first premises: a micro-bakery on Abbeydale Road. Fascinated by fermentation, Martha wanted to share her love for the stronger flavours brought about by wild yeasts and bacteria. It seems she was onto something, and the business flourished.
The Forge Bakehouse family has grown exponentially over the years. Bakers, pastry chefs, baristas and chefs all work together to make the Bakehouse the community hub it has become. Each member brings their own passion and skill, along with an openness to learn from the others.
